Frequent Questions

The Congress is a gathering of delegates from countries around the world where Schoenstatt has some presence.

First, the Congress is a platform of information and communication within the Movement. The Congress wants to work out a common response on how and through what God’s Providence is leading our Movement in this time. We have a longing to say Schoenstatt’s message anew in the current challenges in the Church and society.

At the last Pentecostal Congress in 2015, an interval of 5 years was established.

Therefore, it was planned for the year 2020 and took place because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

It is scheduled for the month of June this year, from 8 to 12.

At the request of the heads of the participating countries, the congress will be held exclusively in person. Through social networks (YouTube) and SchoenstattTV, prayer times, Holy Masses and talks will be transmitted live.

We hope for a consensus amid cultural and national differences, in order to consolidate Schoenstatt’s central task and mission at this time.

The first step is to listen carefully to what the different countries and communities have to say. Then, we will compare these observations within the context of the Church’s worldwide situation, and we will try to shed light on everything from the point of view of our charism. We will then proceed to draft a memorandum formulating the main indicators and the specific steps to be taken to implement them.

This year’s motto is “Moved by God’s Spirit”. The Congress as a whole wants to be lived as a genuine Cenacle in which, through prayer and the discernment of the inspirations given by the Holy Spirit, a consensus is sought regarding the path that God expects from Schoenstatt for the next five years.

We feel moved by the Holy Spirit in the preparation and implementation of the Congress and, under His guidance, we want to shape our daily life, the Church and society as true apostles for our time.

We started with an open questionnaire sent to everyone about the Movement’s current situation in their country, and the results helped us to take the next step, which was the so-called small Pentecosts in each country. The leaders in each country met to reflect on how they live the Schoenstatt charism, on which initiatives have been the most fruitful and what they want for the future in their country. This was from September to December 2021.

From these conclusions, the most important life currents as an international Schoenstatt Family were drafted. Based on these, the workshops were developed, two of which will be prepared in Europe and three in Latin America. The workshops will be held online with the open participation of all interested parties. They will take place in March and April of this year.

The national leaders of the Movement are invited. Depending on the Movement’s evolution in the country, the elected Movement’s director or a designated person will attend as well as other representatives chosen by the director and his/her council to properly represent the Movement in their country. We can welcome up to 170 participants.

All Schoenstatters are invited to join the whole preparatory process by participating in the different initiatives offered on the website www.schoenstatt.com, through prayer and contributions to the capital of grace, and by participating through the livestream network of events.

The work process is designed in such a way that as a group we will seek together the core current of life. However, the autonomy of the respective countries and communities will be respected. Our Movement is structured in a federative way and thus strongly respects the independence of individual countries. We hope that God’s Spirit will lead us to a clear vision at the Congress. Undoubtedly, the practical implementation will be decided later in individual countries and continents.

That everyone returns home with a thorough experience of international unity in harmonized diversity. I hope that the Congress will provide a strong motivation to face the current challenges with courage. Everybody will continue to work in his/her own country, in his/her own place, but with the awareness of having a strong bond with numerous friends in different continents.
